Hello to honored guests!
Putting together this site made me laugh and made me cry.  Truly, there was NO ONE like Toni, as an artist or as a person.  Her distinctive and original outward beauty was just a bit of fizz that bubbled up from her vitality, which was rarest champagne.  Thank you for visiting her site!

What a wonderful tribute to my dear Aunt Toni by my dear cousin Louise! A fine piece of work, capturing the essence of a truly remarkable woman!

If we're talking about the same one...Bela Zsiga was my Great Grandfather, he passed away in 1950-51ish while performing on stage, do you have any information about him?

Hi Lisa,
Great to hear from you. As stated, as far as I know she met and studied with him in New York. She often mentioned him and held him in highest regard. If he played the cimbalom, he must be your Great-Grandfather. Sorry I don't know more.

My original cimbalom teacher, Gus Horvath, of Detroit, learned from Zsiga Bela in New York in the early '30s. He raved about him. I think some of the Zsiga family were in Detroit --- Rudy Zsiga specialized in Romanian numbers at the Gypsy concerts they used to have. I think your great-grandfather played at the funeral of Jancsi Rigo back in the '20s.

Hello Louise Koves-Steiner:

My name is Alfred J. Holzman, and I reside in Miami.

For many years I have been seeking information about a Hungarian-born Louis Koves-Steiner. I am a family historian and his name long ago emerged in some data regarding the family-Weingarten. I am relatively certain that your father is the person I have sought.

I know that he passed away some time ago, as did your mother in 2007...from reading this wondeful web tribute.

So, I wonder if it would be possible to talk on the telephone some day soon. I am really anxious to ask you some questions that pertain all the way back to the 1920's. Is it possible that you could respond to this message, and possibly, if you are somewhat reticent, call me instead. Regardless, here is my info.

Be assured that i am not selling anything, but simply working on my family history...and perhaps we can compare notes...and you ight learn some things too.

I look forward to hearing from you very soon, indeed.

Friends and Family have probably guessed that Toni's daughter Louise, aka L.K.Steiner, put this history together for one and all.
A special thank-you to Theo Rogers, who suggested I go to Weebly to create this site.
